It’s end of the week and you need some silent me-time or some relaxed moments with your friends? Here are 10 ideas how to make your Sunday in Lincoln extra bright.
1. Barista coffee and Belgian waffles

Right on High Street you can start Sunday right and treat yourself with a handmade breakfast on one of the three cozy floors at the café Madame Waffle. If you adore well-made coffee creations or a waffle topped with toffee sauce and freshly sliced bananas – you will love this place.

2. Contemporary Art at Usher GallerY

If you like striving through creative works and get inspired by art – the Usher Gallery placed on a small park shows both a historic collection and changing contemporary exhibitions – it can be everything from painting to sculpture, photography, video and audio installations.

3. Visit Lincoln Cathedral – free!

On Sundays the impressive Cathedral on Lincoln’s Steep Hill is open from 7.15am–6pm with free entry. Light a candle, join a service or just walk through the beautiful gothic architecture. The Victorian writer John Ruskin described the building as “the most precious piece of architecture in the British Isles” – it’s definitely a must-see in Lincoln.

4. History changing Castle in Lincoln

Lincoln’s Castle counterpart to the Cathedral was built over 900 years ago and houses one of the most influencing documents of history – the Magna Carta. Dive into the world of royal Britain and take the Medieval Walk on Castle’s Wall. As a student you have to pay £11 to see both the Castle and its Victorian Prison.

5. Floating along on a boat

Enjoy tea-time alongside the sights of Lincoln and its countryside on a boat trip starting at the Brayford Wharf. Relax and be entertained by the guided canal trip for £7. Sailing times are: 11am, 12.15pm, 1.30pm, 2.45pm and 3.45pm.

6. Relax at Aboretum Park

Grab your favourite book or take a dear friend with you and enjoy the beauty of the Victorian park built in the 1870s. Relax in the gardens, sit by the lakes, watch the fountains, walk on the bridges or chill out at the Victorian bandstand – located in Cultural Quarter this is Lincoln’s green place to be.

7. Get pampered by natural skincare

If you need some attention and you want to treat your skin – and your olfactory sense – then pop in the British born fresh handmade cosmetics retailer LUSH at High Street. Ask for product demonstrations and buy colourful, natural products from head to toe.

9. Amazed and entertained at New Theatre Royal

If you want to get cultural and have a glass of wine while watching the latest musicals, ballets, comedy shows or live screenings, then book a ticket at the New Theatre Royal Lincoln. The theatre in the middle of the city also offers student discounts.

10. Cozy Coffee Aroma

End the day with rather an upside-down-Martini or a hot chocolate topped with marshmallows and chocolate sauce at Coffee Aroma in Lincoln’s Centre. The Guardian voted the café as one of the best 10 coffee shops in the UK.
