Starting university may be a daunting time, but you’ll settle in in no time with everything Lincoln has to offer its students. Your week will be spent getting to know new people on your course or in your accommodation, but make sure you get stuck in with the welcome events and get to know your new home away from home.

Love free stuff? Make sure you head down to the Fresher’s Fayre!
Held in the Engine Shed, the Fresher’s Fayre is a daytime event that welcomes new and returning students. At the event, you’re free to come and go as you please and find out about the local activities and entertainment around Lincoln. You’ll find representatives from places like Dominos Pizza, Home Nightclub and Pure Gym (plus many, many more) handing out discount cards and information flyers, but more importantly FREE FOOD. Why not grab a few of your new flatmates and familiarise yourself with some of the many amenities available to you?

Sports Fayre
Whether you want to pick up where you left off with your favourite sport or try out a new one all together, the Sports Fayre is the place to go and sign up! The University of Lincoln offer 56 sports teams to get involved with that have activities for all skill levels. From well-known sports like Football, Dance and Rugby to ones you may have never had the chance to have a go at, like Parkour and Free Running, Ultimate Frisbee and Shotokan Karate. Attend the event and chat to existing members of each team to find out more information. Throughout the day there are also demonstrations from various sports teams like Cheerleading and Gymnastics to showcase the skills and activities they offer to their members.
Getting involved in sport is a great way to let off steam after a heavy day at university but the social side could change your university experience completely. Each sport society run their own social events that encourage its members to get to know each other. These events can include things like group nights out or quieter events like coffee shop socials. Sport societies also join together from time to time to host mixed socials where you can get to know people from different teams and make even more friends.

Societies Fayre
If sports aren’t for you why not join one of the University of Lincoln’s 75 societies? Pop into the Societies Fayre and see what interests you! You can join societies that relate to your course, for example Law, Business or Journalism, or a completely unrelated society like Anime, Photography or Musical Theatre. Whatever your hobby is, you’re more than likely to find something similar for you to get stuck into. Joining a society gives you an opportunity to meet like-minded people or others who enjoy a specific hobby that you’re in to. Like sports societies, each society run their own socials too to give its members opportunities to get to know one another. These socials tend to relate to the theme of the group but they also offer night out socials too.
